The New York- New Jersey Trail Conference is recruiting volunteers to participate in the Invasives Strike Force.
There are two main activities: (1) monitors who survey trails for invasive plants, and (2) trail crews which remove invasive plants along hiking trails

A monitoring volunteer attends a 1-day training class and is assigned to a 2-mile section of trail at a park of their choice (http://nynjtc.org/panel/invasive-strike-force-parks). They are expected to survey that trail by the end of the season and can complete additional trails if they wish.
Training for monitoring volunteers is free and will be held...
Sat June 9 - western NJ (Pequest Trout Hatchery, Oxford, NJ)
Sun June 10 - lower Hudson NY (Teatown Lake Reservation, Ossining, NY)
Sat June 16 - northeastern NJ (NYNJTC office, Mahwah, NJ)
Sat June 23 - northeastern NJ (NYNJTC office, Mahwah, NJ)
Sun June 24 - western NJ (Pequest Trout Hatchery, Oxford, NJ)
Sat Jun 30 - - lower Hudson NY (Teatown Lake Reservation, Ossining, NY)
Go to http://nynjtc.org/view/workshops to sign up for monitoring training.

The ISF trail crew members work at various locations across the northern NJ and lower Hudson Valley NY area to remove invasive plants under my direction. They get on-the-job training and tools are provided. The schedule of work days and locations can be found here:
