Vermont Chapter of The Nature Conservancy Seeks 2015 Seasonal Water Chestnut Field Coordinator

 

The Vermont Chapter of The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Water Chestnut Field Coordinator for the 2015 Season:

The Water Chestnut Field Coordinator helps lead water chestnut hand-pulling management work in remote wetlands. This is a full-time, short-term position with employment duration June 25 -- August 26, 2015. Housing is available if needed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Organizing/coordinating/leading workdays, sometimes leading volunteers, in wetland sites
  • Compiling and entering data water chestnut harvest and volunteer hours
  • May assist in recruiting and thanking volunteers, writing letters, posting flyers, placing public service announcements, and coordinating with summer youth camps
  • Training volunteers in water chestnut identification and hand-pulling control techniques

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and 1 year’s training in science-related field or related experience in land management.
  • Experience recognizing plant and animal species  
  • Experience operating various types of equipment
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. First Aid, CPR, herbicide application, and driver’s license)
